Matt Walsh ‘walked out’ of ‘DWTS’ amid writers strikes
The mirrorball has stopped spinning for one star.
Matt Walsh may not be putting on his dancing shoes this fall. The actor has decided to pause his involvement in Season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars” as a result of the Hollywood writers strike.
The new season was set to premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 26, featuring Walsh dancing alongside pro Koko Iwasaki, however, according to Variety, the dance competition series is “more-than-likely” to be delayed “unless the writers strike is resolved” by end of day Thursday.
In a statement to Deadline, the two-time Emmy nominee and “Veep” alum said, “I am taking a pause from Dancing with the Stars until an agreement is made with the WGA.”
“I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement,” the actor continued.
“This morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal. I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA.”
A rep for Walsh could not immediately be reached by The Post for comment.
He added: “Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing.”
ABC’s “Good Morning America” revealed the full list of the 15 celebrities who will be joining Walsh on Season 32 of the juggernaut hit.
The high-profile stars who are also ready to hit the ballroom are singer Jason Mraz with pro Daniella Karagach, singer-actress Jamie Lynn Spears with pro Alan Bersten, singer and social media influencer Lele Pons with pro Brandon Armstrong, “Brady Bunch” actor Barry Williams with pro Peta Murgatroyd, “American Pie” actress Alyson Hannigan with pro Sasha Farber, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star and real estate agent Mauricio Umansky with pro Emma Slater, “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix with pro Pasha Pashkov, “Too Hot to Handle” star and social media influencer Harry Jowsey with pro Rylee Arnold, Model and actor Tyson Beckford with pro Jenna Johnson, NFL running back Adrian Peterson with pro Britt Stewart, “Multiverse of Madness” actress Xochitl Gomez with pro Val Chmerkovskiy, Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino with pro Gleb Savchenko and “The Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson with pro Artem Chigvintsev.
