I had a baby shower and a maternity shoot for my huge ovarian cyst

Between the balloons, banners, streamers and tables of party food, it looked like just another baby shower.

But Raquel’s special day wasn’t exactly what it seemed.

The event wasn’t actually a celebration for an unborn baby… instead, the TikTok woman was hosting the party for her 11-in ovarian cyst… which she had decided to name “Cystiana”.

As Raquel revealed on TikTok, the growth had first appeared on her right ovary around five years ago.

At first, it was so small that it was completely unnoticeable from the outside – but that has changed in the last year.

“It just blew up. I mean it tripled in size within these last few months for sure,” she described.

By the end, the cyst was at such a massive size that it made Raquel look extremely pregnant.

But instead of feeling defeated by the huge growth… Raquel decided to have some fun and planned a baby shower for her cyst.

People in her life said it was “wrong” to hold a party for a growth, but Raquel didn’t let that stop her from having the time of her life.

“I also did a maternity shoot… people told me it wasn’t funny – but it was the best decision ever,” she added, sharing a series of photos of the extra-special shoot.

As much as Raquel was enjoying the humour of the situation – she was pretty keen to have the cyst removed, in case it was cancerous.

‘My ovarian cyst weighed 10.5 lbs and contained 1.1 gallons of fluid’

As much as Raquel was enjoying the humor of the situation – she was pretty keen to have the cyst removed, in case it was cancerous.

However, doctors didn’t seem that concerned, with Raquel forced to visit nine separate specialists until one eventually agreed to do the surgery.

She finally went under the knife on June 9 – which is also her birthday – to have the growth drained and taken out of her body.

After the two-hour procedure, Raquel was informed by her doctor that the cyst had weighed 10.5 lbs, had been 11 in by 10 in in diameter and had contained 1.1 gallons of fluid.

“She was a big girl… stealing all my nutrients,” she explained, adding that, thankfully, the cyst hadn’t been cancerous.

“Unfortunately, my right ovary and fallopian tube were too damaged! But my left ovary, tube and uterus are in perfect condition!!” she exclaimed.

“These kinds of cysts are super common and they don’t come back once removed! But that doesn’t mean I won’t get a new one I suppose!”
