Minnesota Vikings shade Taylor Swift for skipping Chiefs game

They were feeling pretty fearless.

The Minnesota Vikings poked fun at Taylor Swift’s absence during their game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

The now-viral TikTok — posted on ESPN’s official page — has received nearly 2.2 million views. In the clip, Viktor the Viking pushes a metal cabinet before it falls over, causing the mascot to look around guilty before dashing away.

“Was Taylor Swift in there?” read the in-video caption, which teased how the “Anti-Hero” songstress would arrive in a cleaning closet at her “Eras Tour” concerts in order to avoid being mobbed by her legions of fans.

ESPN’s video sparked a mixed reaction in the video’s comment section with several users claiming, “I hope so.”

“Why are all these people saying they hope she was in there like they are mad for no reason,” questioned a second person.

A third user joked that the Vikings, who lost to the Chiefs in a 27 to 20 game, posted the video due to the loss.

The video is also an homage to a previous viral TikTok taken at Arrowhead Stadium, which showed staff members wheeling a massive gray box adorned with a giant bag of popcorn. Some onlookers at the time jokingly thought Swift could be hidden in the cart. She attended the Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears at the time, and was later spotted leaving the stadium with Kelce, 34.

Swift and her famous pals, including recently single “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, 27, Blake Lively, 36, and Hugh Jackman, 54, filled up a suite’s “Blank Space” at MetLife Stadium last week to watch the Chiefs narrowly beat the New York Jets 23 to 20.

Swift’s rumored romance with the Chiefs tight end began after the two-time Super Bowl champ lamented failing to give her his number during her “Eras Tour” stop in Kansas City in July.

The “Bejeweled” songstress, who is on a break from her record-breaking tour, broke the internet when she showed up at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer him on alongside his mom, Donna Kelce.

Swift attended her second Chiefs game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Oct. 1. She her famous pals, including recently single “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, 27, Blake Lively, 36, Hugh Jackman, 54, and Ryan Reynolds, 46, watched the Chiefs narrowly beat the New York Jets 23 to 20.

Director Shawn Levy was also on hand, later calling the “frenzy” a bit “depressing” for him.

For his part, Kelce has been handling the whirlwind romance with “Style,” claiming that he wants to keep the media’s attention on football rather than the couple’s “End Game.”

“I can make 50 more hit movies and shows and I”ll still be known as the guy in the orange suede jacket going to the Chiefs-Jets game with Taylor and others,” he told Variety days later.

“It was as simple as, ‘Wait, we can go to an NFL game with our buddies? Let’s do it.’ We had a glimmer that maybe there would be others but nothing prepared us for the frenzy of attention that was that outing,” he added. “Very fun night but definitely, I’ve known famous people but Taylor is definitely a culture magnet unlike anything I’ve seen.”

Kelce, for his part, wants to “respect” both his and Swift moving forward as they continue to make headlines.

“She’s not in the media as much as I am doing this show every single week and having fun during the NFL season on other guys’ shows,” he said on a recent episode of his “New Heights” podcast. “Everything moving forward, I think me talking about sports … will kind of have to be where I keep it.”

Chiefs exec Mark Donovan, meanwhile, said that Kelce is “focused on the right things and doing it the right way” when it comes to the extra attention he’s been receiving.

“Travis is a smart team player,” Donovan, who joined the Chiefs as chief operating officer in 2009 and was promoted to president in 2011, recently told People. “He can handle it and has been very professional.”
