Meghan, Harry return to NYC since ‘near catastrophic car chase’: photos

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have landed in New York City for the first time since they were in a “near catastrophic car chase.”

The couple jetted off to the Big Apple to talk with US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and “Today” show co-host Carson Daly for their Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit Tuesday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be attending the event at Hudson Yards to honor World Mental Health Day.

The summit is hosted by Project Healthy Minds and is a platform for families who want to build a safer online world for children and teens.

The “Suits” star, 42, and the Invictus Games founder, 39, will participate in a conversation hosted by Daly.

Harry and Markle were photographed in their car as the vehicle drove up to the loading dock garage entrance of the Equinox Hotel in NYC.

Just before heading to the hotel, Markle and Harry stopped by the Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn at around 9:30 a.m.

They met with both students and administrators, even sharing a few laughs and talking with the children about their schoolwork.

Harry and Markle appeared at the ceremony alongside her mother, Doria Ragland. Following the bash, the three were allegedly chased by paparazzi in the city after leaving the awards show in an SUV.

Moments later, they jumped into a yellow taxi in hopes of evading the photographers and paparazzi that were trying to catch up with them.

“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi,” their rep said in a statement at the time.

They went on: “This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers. While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”

The NYPD, however, played down the situation. “The NYPD assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests in regard.”

At the time, a source told the Post that there were “no collision reports or 911 calls” and that the chase “definitely wasn’t two hours.”

The duo were also recently in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the Invictus Games last month.
