KSI claims ‘robbery’ as Tommy Fury edges controversial majority decision victory in crossover bout – ‘It’s outrageous’

Tommy Fury beat YouTuber and crossover fighter KSI on a majority decision following a closely fought six-round battle in Manchester on Saturday.

Following a surprisingly tight encounter, one judge called the fight a draw with the other two 57-56 in favour of Fury, which KSI was clearly unhappy about as he branded the decision a “robbery” post-fight.

The influencer, with his simple plan of throwing low punches before grappling his opponent, felt he won the opening three rounds as Fury was deducted a point for punches to the back of the head in round two.

“Robbery. It’s a robbery bro,” he aimed toward Fury in a packed ring after the fight. “How many shots did you land? You got hardly any shots off.

“Look at your face, look at your eyes. I’m the YouTuber and you’re the boxer, you have to win.

“[I won rounds] 1-3 and a point off, how do I lose a six-rounder? Unreal. He’s the man that’s meant to be the pro boxer.

“The amount of times he hit me in the back of the head and the referee only gave one point, and he was doing it over and over. He was trying to f*** up my equilibrium.

“It’s outrageous. We’re gonna appeal. We need to appeal. I feel like I won that.”

Fury, however, jumped in celebration and relief when Michael Buffer announced the highly-anticipated result in what was a lucky escape for the Manchester-born fighter.

After the win he claimed he was done with “crossover” boxing as he sought a new challenge, but left the door open for either Logan Paul – who fought and beat Dillion Danis on the undercard – or Jake Paul, who he defeated in February, to challenge him.

“Thank you to everyone in Manchester for turning out,” he said. “I did it for you, my hometown.

“I couldn’t use my right hand for six weeks, I’m not an excuse-maker, I couldn’t use my hand for six weeks. And the reason I’m so emotional is that I’m changing my family’s life, fight by fight I’m changing my little daughter’s life, and I’m trying.

“I fought my heart out in there and that’s all I can do. I said there will never be another Tyson Fury and I’m just trying to be the best Tommy Fury I can be.

“He [KSI] is an awkward man, I’ll give him that. I got my victory and I’m 10 and 0. He goes his way and I go mine. I’m done with this crossover s***.

“I’m done with the b*******, onto the next challenge, if any of the Paul [brothers] want it.”

Fury was seemingly stunned in the first round when a lively KSI landed a straight right hook before Fury responded, catching KSI in the back of the head.

He was deducted a point by the referee in the second round when he repeated the illegal move, which seemed to hand KSI the advantage after his impressive start.

A combination of uppercuts, overhead rights and lunging jabs from KSI had Fury struggling to find his rhythm, which he eventually began to do in the third.

Both fighters continuously grappled one as KSI found an inside jab in the fifth, and then held on at arm’s length as he thought he’d done enough.

But he was shocked when Fury was controversially awarded victory on a majority decision.

Fury landed 12 jabs and 39 connecting punches compared to the influencer’s 38, with the point deduction a major talking point following the bout.

It’s now 10-0 for Fury, six wins have come by decision with the other four by knockout.

Fury is the brother of current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who is set to face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Nganno on October 28, on TNT Sports Box Office.

Tyson is then expected to come head-to-head with Oleksandr Usyk in the months following to settle the undisputed heavyweight status for the first time in the four-belt era.
