Newcastle track Man City and Man United midfielders to replace Sandro Tonali – Paper Round
Newcastle track players to replace Tonali
The Sun names four players – Scott McTominay, Kalvin Phillips, Joao Palhinha and Amadou Onana – who could replace Sandro Tonali at Newcastle if he is banned, as expected.
“His absence will be a hammer blow to Newcastle’s prospects, both in terms of landing silverware and progressing far in the Champions League. And it’s prompted the club to suddenly reshape their January plans, with Man City star Kalvin Phillips now being touted for a loan move.
“Newcastle have also continued to track Scott McTominay, who has remained at Manchester United having initially seemed certain to leave in the summer. However, his valuation to United has undoubtedly risen in recent weeks, scoring in the wins over Brentford and Sheffield United before starting the Champions League clash with Copenhagen.
Everton face huge points deduction
Everton could suffer a 12-point punishment for breaching financial rules, according to The Telegraph.
“Everton are facing the threat of severe sanctions if they lose their fight against allegedly breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations, with a decision due later this year.
“Telegraph Sport understands the Premier League has recommended the punishment to be extremely severe, and up to a maximum of 12 points. Such a sanction would put them in “grave risk of going down, given the team’s relegation battles in recent seasons and precarious current position of 16th, three points off the relegation zone.
“Everton’s case is currently being heard by an independent commission after they recorded financial losses of £304 million over a three-year period, which is well over the permitted amount of £105 million set out by the Premier League.”
Liverpool and City tracking Musiala
The Daily Mail claims that Pep Guardiola wants Bayern Munich forward Jamal Musiala, but faces competition.
“The Spaniard’s comments come just a day after Musiala scored Bayern’s third goal of the match in a 3-1 victory over Galatasaray.
“While Bayern are desperate to tie him down to a long-term contract, the attacker is currently assessing his options before committing his future.
“Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are also said to be interested in the youngster, too.”
Fulham track Stuttgart star
Serhou Guirassy has 15 goals already this season and he is attracting interest due to a low release clause, according to The Sun.
“The goal-scoring menace has a bargain release clause that makes him an attractive target for many of the top English clubs in the new year.
“He has outscored the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland who are widely regarded as the world’s best strikers.
“But what makes Guirassy even more attractive is his release clause is worth just £15million and will be active in both winter and summer transfer windows.
“Fulham are desperate to replace Aleksander Mitrovic following his £50million move to Al-Hilal over the summer.”
