Shani Louk’s father says she ‘did not suffer’

The father of Shani Louk, the 23-year-old tattoo artist who was beheaded by Hamas, said she was first “killed on the spot” and “did not suffer” – and took solace that his daughter spent her last moments partying with friends.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog confirmed Monday that DNA found on a piece of skull matched Louk, who became a symbol of the horrors of Hamas when she was paraded through Gaza after the terrorists attacked a music festival near Kibbutz Re’im on Oct. 7.

“Until about 6:45, Shani was still dancing, cheering, and going wild at the party and was surrounded by all her best friends — and they had fun all night,” her dad, Nissim Louk, told the Israeli news outlet, N12.

“She enjoyed herself until the last moment,” he added, referring to the Oct. 7 event, where more than 260 people were slaughtered.

“She was killed on the spot and not only did she not suffer, 10 minutes earlier she was still enjoying herself.”

Nissim also expressed relief that the family received a “definitive answer” about Shani’s death.

“There’s some comfort in that. At least I know she’s not tossed in some Gaza tunnel,” he told Israeli news outlet Ynet.

“Shani was a beautiful girl who loved to dance. Everyone loved her,” Nisism said. “She was very smart and witty. That’s how I want her to be remembered.”

He added that images from her abduction initially sparked hope that she might be injured but still alive and that a German source even reported that she was being treated in a Gaza hospital, according to Ynet.

On Monday, Shani’s mother, Ricarda, also said she was relieved that her daughter “at least didn’t suffer.”

Louk, whose body has yet to be found, had lived in Israel but spent part of her childhood in Portland, Oregon, where she attended kindergarten at the Jewish Portland Academy.

Meanwhile, the grieving dad praised the Israel Defense Forces but had harsh words for the government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The government ministries all failed,” Nissim told N12. “They underestimated everyone, they don’t work, they don’t answer, they’re not normal.”

He continued: “It’s been excellent on the civilian side. The Israeli people have a good heart and a sense of community, but our government has been MIA for the past 20 years,” he said.

“If the prime minister were to show up at my house, I’d tell him to leave, since he bears much responsibility for what happened,” Nissim told Ynet, adding that the IDF “should show no mercy” against Hamas.

“No proportional response should be considered. They must pay a million times worse, which is the only way to get deterrence,” he said.
