HGTV’s Love It or List It’s Hilary Farr exiting after 19 seasons

Hilary Farr is exiting HGTV’s “Love It or List It” after 19 seasons on the air.

The interior designer, 71, shared the news with People Friday, saying: “I’ve given it so many years of my life.”

“It’s got me through hard times. It’s got the audiences through hard times. It has evolved into a mainstay of people’s lives and it’s been incredibly gratifying. But now it’s time for me to move on and meet new challenges,” she revealed.

The Canadian-British TV personality has co-hosted the home design show with real estate agent David Visentin since 2008.

She recently told “everyone I’m done” after filming the most recent season.

Farr explained that she needed to “bloom” and that it was “time” for her to embark on other career opportunities.

When she told Visentin that she was departing, he “didn’t believe” her. “We are who we are [in real life] on that show,” she said. “Think of your brother as his most obnoxious and annoying, that’s David.”

However, she said she will miss “everything” about working with her pals and co-emcee, adding that he was immensely supportive of her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.

While she is now in remission, she underwent three lumpectomies and radiation since her diagnosis.

She continued: “I was working all the way through cancer and he was always there. He had his little rough patches too here and there, and we were there for each other. Yeah, that’s a biggie. I don’t know that that’s going to change.”

Farr also noted that she “wouldn’t be surprised” if “Love It or List It” replaces her as co-host.

“I wish them all the luck in the world,” the Toronto native dished. “And I would probably tune in and watch it.”

Aside from the show, Farr hosts her own series “Tough Love” on HGTV. The show premiered in 2021 and recently aired its second season earlier this fall.

But will she continue on with her solo series? “We’ll see what happens there. I’m not at all stepping away,” Farr joked.

She also teased that she has other projects “in the pipeline” and is working on building a “tiny house” on a piece of land she purchased in Italy last year.

As for what she learned about her HGTV career experience, Farr told People: “I learned that every minute that I think there are so many things happening in this world that are so horrific, I’m sure I should be doing something more meaningful, that in fact, I was doing something meaningful by doing the show.”
