Moment downed rocket nearly hits duo walking in Tel Aviv

Shocking footage from Tel Aviv shows the moment two men walking the streets during an alarm warning were nearly hit by a large fragment of a downed rocket intercepted by the Israeli Defense Forces.

The video shows the duo casually walking along the sidewalk on Tuesday following a warning from the IDF for everyone to remain indoors as Israel’s Iron Dome Defense system activated.

As the men approached a tree, a large piece of a rocket fell vertically right in front of the pedestrians, who quickly jumped back in fear.

Branches from the tree continue to fall behind as one of the men flees, with the other choosing to walk away slowly as he looks on at the damage caused by the rocket.

The incident occurred during a red alert siren call, when residents are instructed to avoid outside areas due to missile fire launched at the Jewish State, The Times of Israel reports.

Civilians are even told to stay indoors for up to 10 minutes after the sirens flare, as it takes a few minutes for rockets neutralized by the Iron Dome to land after they’re blown up in the air.

Residents typically have about one-and-a-half minutes to reach a protected area in Tel Aviv in the event of a rocket fire warning, according to the Times.

The rocket that landed in front of the two men was part of an estimated 15-missile barrage aimed at Tel Aviv on Tuesday, according to the Israeli outlet Ynet.

A piece of one of the intercepted rockets ended up landing at a school in the city, with the shrapnel crashing into a classroom and scattering debris everywhere.

There were no injuries reported, with the incident occurring days after restrictions were lifted in Tel Aviv that allowed schools to reopen with some security measures in place.

The attack on Tel Aviv Tuesday was one of many recent rocket strikes aimed at the Jewish State after the Israel-Hamas war saw some of its most intense fighting across Gaza.
