‘A mix of things I love’
Like father, like granddaughter.
Rumer Willis revealed the unique way she honored her father Bruce Willis, 68, with her daughter’s name.
Rumer, 35, welcomed her first daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, with Derek Richard Thomas in April.
During a Q&A session Tuesday on Instagram, the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” star explained how she came up with her daughter’s name.
“Her name is a mix of things I love,” Rumer explained. “I have always loved the name Lou so was thinking of that for both a boy or a girl but then when we found out she was a girl, we came up with Louetta.”
She continued, “We wanted to give her options and me and my dad’s favorite singers are Lou (Louie Armstrong), Etta (Etta James) [and] Isley (Isley Brothers).”
Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in February. In October, “Moonlighting” creator Glenn Gordon Caron claimed that the “Die Hard” star was “not totally verbal.”
Since then, Bruce’s family, including his ex-wife Demi Moore, 61, daughters Rumer and Tallulah, 29, and Scout, 32, as well as his wife Emma Heming, 45, and their daughters, Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9, have spoken out several times about his condition, and seem to be spending lots of quality time with him.
Sources told Us Weekly earlier this month that “no one knows how much time Bruce has left, so they’re soaking up every moment they get with him.”
In November, Rumer shared a throwback picture with Bruce on Instagram; “Really missing my papa today,” she captioned the throwback.
Scout also shared a sweet video of Bruce clutching her hand during Thanksgiving dinner.
Seemingly feeling nostalgic, Rumer also posted a “rare” photo of Bruce holding her as a baby to her Instagram Story on Tuesday but did not caption it.
