Prince Harry’s book, ‘racist royal’ scandal, more

The royals have endured a lot of history-making moments in 2023, from Prince Harry’s “Spare” memoir release to King Charles’ coronation.

While the Firm is just like any other normal family — well, of course except for their tiaras, grandeur palaces and crown jewels — they also have their fair share of family drama.

From scandals to trials, tribulations and even joyous times, this year is surely one for the next Windsor biography.

As Meghan Markle and Harry’s feud with the clan still raged on, their fractured relationship with Kate Middleton and Prince William is also still on thin ice.

So much so, that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex allegedly won’t be joining the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas this year.

The Prince and Princess of Wales apparently still have some “hostility” toward Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, and don’t want to be in the same room as them over the holidays.

“Spare” hits bookshelves

Harry’s bombshell, 400-page book “Spare” was released in January and was full of juicy anecdotes about his life as a member of the royal family.

Excerpts from the book include chapters where Harry called William, 41, his “arch-nemesis,” a story about how the Prince of Wales physically attacked him over Markle and more.

There is one passage in his book where the Invictus Games founder outrageously confessed he was bred for “spare parts” for William and another story where Harry revealed that he lost his virginity behind a bar as a young adult.

He went on to recall that he “begged” his father not to marry Queen Camilla, as Harry believed that she would turn into his “wicked stepmother.”

Additionally, he even referenced his private parts 15 times, at one point noting his penis was “oscillating between extremely sensitive and borderline traumatized” after a 200-mile walk in March 2011 as part of the Walking with the Wounded charity group.

The infamous “Worldwide Privacy Tour”

Shortly after “Spare” was released, comedy series “South Park” dropped an episode that mocked Harry and Markle’s quest for privacy in February.

The episode followed cartoon characters who desire to stay out of the limelight, and yet go on various talk shows. While they resembled the Harry and the “Suits” star, they aren’t given their official names on the show.

“Spare,” however, is given a name in the show — “WAAAGH!”

In November, “Family Guy” would take its own swipe against the couple.

Meghan and Harry booted from Frogmore Cottage

The couple was evicted from their Windsor home by King Charles and they finally vacated the premises in June. Charles began proceedings to boot the pair just one day after Harry’s shocking memoir, “Spare,” hit bookshelves in January.

A source told Page Six in March that the monarch was thinking of giving Frogmore to his brother, Prince Andrew.

The duo shipped their belongings to their home in Montecito, California. They now no longer have a place to stay when they visit the UK and will have to lodge with friends or at a hotel instead.

Princess Eugenie’s second baby

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, announced she was pregnant with her second child in January.

She welcomed son Ernest George on May 30 with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

Lilibet’s christening

Markle and Harry christened their daughter, Lilibet Diana, on March 3. But the royal family failed to attend.

While the lovebirds reportedly invited Charles, 75, Queen Camilla, William and Middleton, both 41, to the joyous occasion, they didn’t show up.

There were between 20 to 30 guests at the intimate bash at their Montecito abode. After the ceremony, those in attendance were treated to a meal and an afternoon of dancing.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Lili and older brother Archie were officially given “prince” and “princess” titles at the time. Despite the announcement, the kids were free to use them once their grandfather, King Charles III, ascended to the throne in September.

Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge debacle

The Duke of York continued to fight with Charles to stay in his longtime country house the Royal Lodge for months.

The king previously asked Andrew, 63, to move into the smaller Frogmore Cottage in an attempt to scale down costs of the monarchy.

Andrew was finally granted permission by Charles to stay at the Lodge in October.

One condition for Andrew to stay was that he needed to complete repairs, estimated at 2 million British pounds on the 30-room mansion.

He reportedly already paid more than 200,000 pounds for roof repairs over the summer.

King Charles’ coronation

When Queen Elizabeth died at age 96 in September 2022, Charles immediately ascended to the throne.

The monarch was crowned in an official divine ceremony on May 6, 2023, with all the pomp and circumstance.

He was coronated with his family by his side at Westminster Abbey — with Harry even making a journey across the pond for the illustrious event.

Despite Harry arriving solo — without Markle — he was snubbed with his seat and sat several rows behind William, Middleton and their children Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. He was then driven straight to the airport to return to the US after the ceremony — with his suit hanger in hand.

Harry and Meghan’s car chase

The duke and duchess were in a “near catastrophic car chase” in May while they were in New York City for the Women of Vision Awards with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

They claimed they were pursued by paparazzi for over two hours in an SUV around 10 p.m. after the event.

Moments later, they jumped into a yellow taxi in hopes of evading the photographers that were trying to catch up with them.

“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi,” their rep said in a statement at the time.

While the NYPD said the incident was under investigation, police also played down the couple’s claims, describing a somewhat hectic yet overall controlled scene.

“The NYPD assisted the private security team protecting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday. “There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at their destination and there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests in regard.”

A high-ranking source added to the Post that there were “no collision reports or 911 calls” and that the chase “definitely wasn’t two hours.”

Archetypes podcast canned

Markle’s podcast was not renewed for a second season in June after her deal with Spotify fell through.

A source close to the situation told The Post at the time that the Archewell media company launched by Harry and Markle reportedly didn’t produce enough content to receive the full payout of the roughly $20 million deal the couple signed in 2020.

In a joint statement, Spotify and Archewell Audio explained they “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

“Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform,” an Archewell Productions spokeswoman added to The Wall Street Journal.

United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer later admitted that he wasn’t surprised about Spotify’s breakup with the couple.

“Turns out Meghan Markle was not a great audio talent, or necessarily any kind of talent,” Zimmer told Semafor during the Cannes Lions advertising festival.

“And, you know, just because you’re famous doesn’t make you great at something.”

Fergie’s Breast Cancer

Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, announced she underwent a breast cancer operation in June.

After going through a routine mammogram earlier this year, the 64-year-old was diagnosed with the disease and went through surgery.

The Duchess of York recovered successfully at Windsor with her family and has been on the mend ever since.

Prince Harry’s phone hacking case

Harry took the stand in London in June to testify against the British tabloid, the Daily Mirror.

He accused them of hacking his phone, invading his privacy and claimed they carried out “vicious, persistent attacks” on him and Markle.

In December, he won damages against the newspaper after High Court ruled in his favor.

“This case is not just about hacking. It is about a systemic practice of unlawful and appalling behavior, followed by clever-ups and destruction of evidence, the shocking scale of which can only be revealed through these proceedings,” Harry said in a statement after the ruling, in part.

“The journey to justice can be a slow and painful one and since bringing my claim almost five years ago defamatory stories and intimidating tactics have been deployed against me and at my family’s expense. And so, as I too have learnt through this process, patience is, in fact, a virtue. Especially, in the face of vendetta journalism,” he continued.

“Today’s ruling is vindicating and affirming. I’ve been told that slaying dragons will get you burned but in light of today’s victory and the importance of doing what is needed for a free and honest press, it is a worthwhile price to pay. The mission continues.”

Queen Bey’s dance party

Markle got down with celebrity pals Kelly Rowland and Kerry Washington at Beyoncé’s third Renaissance World Tour stop in Los Angeles on Sept. 5.

The duchess danced the night away to the music alongside other A-listers such as Katy Perry, Lizzo, Justin and Hailey Bieber, the Kardashians, Jeff Bezos, Chris Rock and Tyler Perry.

The Invictus Games

The former actress stole the spotlight at the Invictus Games in September. She joined Harry at the Paralympic-styled sports event in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Harry founded the games in 2014 for wounded servicemen and women to compete in a series of athletic showdowns.

He also appeared to slam his family over their decision not to allow him to wear his military uniform during last year’s funeral for Queen Elizabeth during the closing ceremony in his speech.

Public hockey game outing

Harry and Markle returned to their old home of Vancouver, Canada, for a fun hockey game in November.

The pair happily watched the sports event where the Vancouver Canucks battled the San Jose Sharks at the Rogers Arena.

Harry also took part in the ceremonial puck drop ahead of the game.

Months earlier, they attended a Lakers game in April too.

“The Crown”

In another blow to the family, the sixth and final season of Netflix’s “The Crown” dropped in early fall. The last 10 episodes re-created Princess Diana’s untimely 1997 death (and introduced her ghost) as well as how the Firm handled the conflicts of the early 2000s.

Harry’s friends reportedly may have “watched [the season] first in order to save him from anything he may not wish to see,” an insider told the Telegraph in November.

He allegedly had a “sensitivity viewer” to screen Season 6 so that he didn’t have to view traumatic content.

Harry’s birthday call to father

Charles turned 75 on Nov. 14 and in an effort to ease some tension, Harry called his father on his special day.

While Charles had a blow-out bash at Clarence House with his family, Harry and Markle chose not to attend.

It was later reported that Charles was “disappointed” that the news of their phone call was made public.

“He’s trying very much to have the focus on his public life and whilst, of course, as a loving father he’s very happy to have a conversation with his estranged son, he wasn’t the one who was leaking this to them to the press,” royal expert Rafe Heydel-Mankoo told GB News.

Heydel-Mankoo said the monarch reportedly shifted the blame on Harry’s camp for leaking the news.

Omid Scobie’s “Endgame” book

The royal author’s recent tell-all, “Endgame,” was published on Nov. 28 and was chock-full of exposed alleged secrets about the Windsor family.

One major bombshell was that two members of the royal family were outed as the ones who questioned the color of Markle and Harry’s son Archie’s skin color before he was born in 2019.

Scobie then blamed the Dutch translation of his new book for accidentally naming the alleged senior royals who made a “racist” comment.

In the English edition, he wrote that he was unable to name the royals accused by the former actress due to libel laws.

Piers Morgan then claimed the two members in question were Charles and Middleton.

Prince William and Middleton later ignored reporters who shouted at them for a response to the allegations as they walked the red carpet at the Royal Variety Performance on Nov. 30.

As the family’s bumpy year winded down, royal expert Nick Bullen told Fox News that Kate and William were simply “tired” with Harry and Markle’s drama.

“The anger has gone out of it,” he said. “A lot of the heat has gone out of it. It’s just a sense of, ‘Really? Again?’”

Prince Louis’ missing finger

Two days before Middleton’s third annual Christmas Concert at Westminster Abbey — where Louis mischievously blew out Charlotte’s candle — William and Middleton dropped their holiday card on Dec. 10.

The jokes rapidly began to fly, with many teasing that it looked like a snapshot from a department store catalogue.

Eagle-eyed fans also believed that there was a major Photoshop fail on the card, with Louis’ finger that appeared to be missing. Kate and William were reportedly “embarrassed” by the fiasco.

“Saturday Night Live” even got in on the fun and mocked the image’s weird editing mistake.

“A Christmas photo released by the royal family features a bad Photoshop job where Prince Louis’ finger appears to be missing,” “Weekend Update” co-anchor Colin Jost said.

“And this is sweet,” added Jost, 41. “Meghan Markle said she has a finger they can use if they need it.” He then showed a fake photo of the former actress holding up her middle finger.
