Pierce Brosnan facing the heat after allegedly entering off-limits area in Yellowstone National Park
Pierce Brosnan was cited for hiking off-trail in November around the Mammoth Terraces area of Yellowstone National Park.
Court documents obtained by CNN state that the charges against the “007” actor are Foot travel in all thermal areas and w/in Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails … and Violating closures and use limits,” which are listed as a petty offenses.
The “Mamma Mia” star, 70, was charged with violating travel restrictions near the thermal feature on Tuesday, according to the docs filed in the US District Court in Wyoming.
The thermal areas of Yellowstone have “delicate, breakable crusts that can sit atop scalding water,” according to the park’s website.
Park guests are to use specific boardwalks and trails to navigate around Yellowstone’s thermal areas.
Other safety precautions include staying away from water in the hot springs as they can cause severe or fatal burns.
At least five people have been injured in Yellowstone’s thermal areas in recent years.
A drunk man from Michigan is also banned from the park — at least until his case is resolved — after he stumbled into an s off-limits hot springs in August.
Another ill-informed visitor illegally stuck her hand into a scorching hot spring back in June — and it’s caught on video.
Brosnan was reportedly in the area filming parts of a Western titled “Unholy Trinity,” which also stars Samuel L. Jackson.
He is set to appear on Jan. 23 in federal court in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming.
The Post has contacted reps for Brosnan for comment.
This appears to be the first time that “The Out-Laws” actor has ever had a run-in with the law.
Last week, a viral tweet attempting to shame Brosnan’s wife Keely Shaye Smith’s appearance backfired when fans showed their support for the journalist and author’s looks.
