A man has been detained by fellow passengers on a flight from Bali after an alleged assault
A man has been detained on a flight between a popular holiday destination and one of Australia’s busiest airports.
The man had to be restrained by the cabin crew after allegedly attacking a crew member on Qantas flight QF46 between Bali and Melbourne.
Details of what occurred on the flight are not yet known but Qantas has confirmed an incident occurred during the flight between Denpasar and Melbourne.
Cabin crew are being debriefed.
A video obtained by Nine News shows other passengers wrestling with the man before he is pinned face down in the aisle by a crew member.
Passengers who have since left the flight said the man was allegedly agitated, screaming and shouting, before the “episode” occurred, one witness claimed the man was screaming for his mum and dad at one stage.
Another witness told 9 News the man allegedly attacked passengers.
“He attacked two or three of the other passengers and those other passengers overpowered him,” the man said.
“Everybody was resting and all of a sudden this guy just jumped up and he started screaming and everybody was panicking.”
Airport police were on hand to meet the aircraft upon arrival and are now managing the situation.
Qantas said the safety of its customers and crew is the number one priority, with the company having zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behavior.o
