Nika Prevc dominates in Villach to move top of ski jumping World Cup standings, 15 points clear of Josephine Pagnier
Slovenia’s Nika Prevc moved to the top of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup standings with a dominant victory in Villach.
Prevc produced the highest scores in both rounds to finish with 262.7 points, 26.0 more than Austria’s Eva Pinkelnig.
Abigail Strate of Canada completed the podium 3.1 points further back as France’s Josephine Pagnier finished 14th to lose her lead at the summit.
Prevc’s first-round jump of 96.5m was the furthest in the competition, and set her up perfectly to take victory in Austria.
Pinkelnig moved from eighth after the first jump to second, while Strate remained in third, finishing 1.5 points ahead of Ito Yuki of Japan.
Prevc is now 15 points ahead of Pagnier in the overall standings with Ito 92 points further behind.
The skiers will go again tomorrow, as Prevc goes in search of a fourth win in eight events.
