Paul Mitchell’s son Angus dead at 53 after apparent drowning at home pool
Angus Mitchell, the only son of legendary hairstylist Paul Mitchell, has died. He was 53.
Angus reportedly died Wednesday after appearing to have drowned in a pool at his Honolulu home, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
Officials reported arrived at the home around 6 a.m. for a call that a man had drowned. Angus was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
An official cause of death was not given.
Angus is the co-owner of John Paul Mitchell Systems which his father founded in 1980. He also inherited his dad’s stake in JPMS and its schools when he died of pancreatic cancer in 1989.
Angus worked as a hairstylist in Hawaii for a few years before opening Angus Mitchell Salon in Beverly Hills in 2010.
The Post has contacted the Honolulu Police Department and reps for JPMS for comment.
Angus posted videos with his friends to his Instagram story on Wednesday, looking happy and as they played instruments and sang songs.
Angus was married three times: to Michelle Raab, Sian Morgan, whom he shares an 8-year-old son, Dylan, with, and his current wife, Mara.
In a June interview with Estetica Magazine, Angus said he was looking forward to “Global travel and connecting with our people in person” in 2023 and beyond.
“I am so happy to be traveling again. When we can meet and learn from one another, we are all that much stronger together,” he said. “We have slowed down on the large hair shows and are instead focussing more on Intimate gatherings. So far this year, and I have visited Italy, Mexico, Spain, and France.”
“My overwhelming feeling is that there is a hunger for more connectivity, as well as more love and joy of the JPMS culture and a stronger connection to the philanthropic commitments of our company,” he added. “I have a commitment to continuing to inspire artists through artistic possibility with the great Robert Cromeans and our talented Art Directors. It’s so important ensure our people feel supported, inspired and cared for in every way.”
