Prince William anxious as Kate, Charles undergo medical procedures

Prince William is feeling “anxious” that both Kate Middleton and King Charles are sitting out royal engagements amid their respective medical procedures, according to the monarch’s former butler.

The Princess of Wales, 42, was admitted to the hospital for a planned abdominal surgery on Tuesday, while Charles, 75, will undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate next week.

With two key royal family members out of the public fold for the foreseeable future, the Prince of Wales, 41, must now “step up” to the plate.

“It’s quite unusual to have two royals out of action, and it’s going to put more pressure on William,” Grant Harrold, who worked for Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales, exclusively told The Post.

“I’m sure he’s feeling anxious, as you would be. However, William does cope well under stress, as I’ve seen on many occasions.”

While Middleton’s surgery was “successful,” she will remain at the London Clinic for 10 to 14 days before “returning home to continue her recovery,” according to a statement from Kensington Palace.

Charles, for his part, will take “a short period of recuperation” to recover and rest, which means canceling several of the engagements in Scotland that he had slated for this week.

“With his father out of action too, as Counsellor of State, William’s workload will increase as he has to step up,” Harrold said on behalf of Slingo. “Edward and Anne will also no doubt have to step in to fulfill more duties.”

Despite the mounting “pressure” on William, Harrold notes that the prince has had “many years of training as heir to the throne” that made him equipped to take on more duties.

“It’s part of being within the royal family,” the former royal butler said. “I’m sure he will do a fantastic job. It will, of course, put some strain on him, but it’s nothing he’s not prepared for.”

Elsewhere, Harrold has said that while William is “no stranger” to “taking on more,” he must now find the balance between carrying out royal duties and supporting his wife and kids at home.
