Sofía Vergara taken aback by Kelly Clarkson calling her jaw-dropping ‘Griselda’ transformation subtle: ‘Shut up’
“It took hours, Kelly.”
Sofía Vergara was — jokingly — offended by Kelly Clarkson saying her jaw-dropping physical transformation in the new Netflix series “Griselda” looked natural.
The 51-year-old Columbian beauty stopped by Clarkson’s daytime talk show on Wednesday and discussed morphing into the real-life Griselda Blanco, a Colombian cartel leader known as “The Black Widow.”
“This is incredible,” Clarkson, 41, said of Vergara’s makeover. “I feel like they only changed your nose or something.”
“What?” Vergara loudly asked the “American Idol” alum. “Are you crazy?”
Earlier this week, Vergara called her “giant boobs” and her body her “passport to the world,” but her signature curves and trademark sexy smolder are buried under prosthetics makeup for the drama.
“Whatever they did though, it looks slight,” Clarkson struggled to get her message across. “It doesn’t look like — you know what I’m saying?”
“No, Kelly. It took hours!” Vergara said to the audience’s amusement.
Clarkson then tried explaining that the “slight change” to Vergara’s appearance “probably took time” but completely “changed your being.”
“Shut up!” Vergara playfully interrupted the host.
“It was teeth. It was nose,” she listed off the prosthetics used to achieve Griselda’s look. “It was plastic from here to here!”
Finally coming to an understanding, Clarkson said the makeup artists did “such a good job that it looks seamless.”
“You literally look like you could actually just be this person and other movies. You could have two careers,” Clarkson said.
“It looks real, right?” Vergara finally got serious.
Vergara, who is perhaps best known for playing Gloria Pritchett for all 11 seasons of “Modern Family” then thanked Clarkson for the compliment because aimed to bury her likeness for the darker role.
“I wanted Sofía and Gloria Pritchett to disappear,” she said. “I didn’t want the audience to say ‘Why does Gloria Pritchett think with that rubber nose that she can trick us into thinking that she’s a dramatic, killer actress?’”
“Griselda” is available to stream on Netflix on Thursday.
