Kaysha Love breaks track record in Lillehammer for second World Cup win of season – ‘It was a blast’

USA’s Kaysha Love seized her second monobob World Cup victory of the season with a new track record in Lillehammer.

The 26-year-old laid down a new record of 54.12 seconds to beat the previous time set by Germany’s Maureen Zimmer in November 2022 by over a second.

“Honestly I am very excited to be here in Norway,”

. “The track is so much fun.

“It’s new for me so it was quite intimidating but all in all it was just a blast, to come out with a performance I can be super proud of.“

Australia’s Bree Walker finished 0.42 seconds back for silver while Germany’s Lisa Buckwitz was just one hundredth of a second behind for bronze, enough to keep her standing as the overall leader.

Former track record holder and two-time Junior World Champion Zimmer finished eighth on her senior World Cup debut.

It was an all German podium in the two-man bobsleigh as Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer took the top spot in Norway.

Victory marked the duo’s fourth World Cup gold of the season in a time of 1:40.63 minutes, laying down the fastest times for each run.

Compatriots Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller were 0.38 seconds behind for silver with Adam Ammour and Benedikt Hertel clinched bronze, in Hertel’s first-ever World Cup podium in the event.
