NJ crab predicts Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl
Bettors will pinch themselves over this clawsome Super Bowl pick!
Las Vegas likes the favored San Francisco 49ers, but a prognosticating New Jersey crab is keen on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The unnamed and uncanny nine-spine spider crab at Sea Life Aquarium in the American Dream Mall, East Rutherford — ambled in his tank this week towards the red and white helmet of the Taylor Swift-backed squad.
No matter which team wins, the result will have the crab come out of his shell — and get a first name.
If the Chiefs are victorious, the crustacean will be called Patrick, after superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
A San Francisco win means the crab will forever be known as Brock in honor of the 49ers’ Cinderella second-year starting QB Brock Purdy.
The decision to name the crab after the winning quarterback “stems from its strong connection to football game picks from the Jets and Giants game this season,” said Sea Life marketing manager Abhiruchi Jain.
The 2-year-old crab — who was found in the Shark River in Monmouth County — made headlines this season picking Jets and Giants games that were documented on the Sea Life Instagram.
It has a 67% success rate predicting the winners, Jain said.
The crab even predicted a shell-shocking upset — Gang Green’s win over the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 15.
