Newcastle place sporting director Ashworth on gardening leave amid Man Utd speculation
“Dan Ashworth appears to have taken a step closer to joining Manchester United after being placed on gardening leave by Newcastle United. The sporting director is expected to be hired by Ineos’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dave Brailsford, who are overseeing an overhaul of Manchester United as their 25% stake in the club nears completion. Ashworth has previously worked for Brighton and the FA.”
