Adele postpones Las Vegas residency dates to ‘rest’ voice: ‘Doctor’s orders’
“Hello,” goodbye.
Adele has postponed her Las Vegas residency dates due to an illness that has “taken a toll” on her voice.
“I love you, I’ll miss you like mad and I’m sorry for the inconvenience,” Adele, 35, captioned a statement posted to her social media on Tuesday.
“Sadly, I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency,” it reads. “I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break. I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s all taken a toll on my voice.”
The statement continued, “And so on doctors (sic) orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date.”
The Post has contacted reps for Adele for comment.
The “Rumor Has It” singer underwent surgery after suffering a hemorrhage to her vocal cords in November 2011. She also canceled two shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in June 2017 due to damaged vocal cords.
“It was like someone put a curtain over my throat … and I could feel it,” the British songstress told “60 Minutes” about her pre-op symptoms in February 2012. “It felt like something popped in my throat.”
On Saturday, Adele told her residency audience that she “didn’t sleep very well” and that her “chest is on fire,” the Daily Mail reports.
“Straight after this show I am going on voice rest,” she claimed, apologizing to the crowd, “Can you imagine how hard now me not talking for three days is?”
With all of the March “Weekends with Adele” dates at Caesars Palace postponed, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer’s next show will be May 17. Her residency was set to conclude on June 15.
Adele postponed the opening of her residency in January 2022 due to production issues. The show finally launched in November and ran through March 2023.
She then revealed another leg of the residency that ran from June and November, and then announced another 32 dates for the June 2024 wrap.
