‘Level 3 threat’ aboard Newark-bound flight forces emergency landing

A United Airlines flight traveling from London Heathrow to Newark Airport diverted to Maine Friday morning due to a Level 3 threat on board.

Flight UA 883 landed at Bangor International Airport at 9:59 a.m. – nearly one hour and 30 minutes before it was supposed to arrive at Newark, according to Flight Aware.

The flight diverted to remove an unruly passenger, Flight Radar reported, citing Air Traffic Control feeds.

The Boeing 767 was set to proceed to Newark shortly, it added.

A Level 3 warning in an aircraft typically involves life-threatening behavior or display of a weapon.

United Airlines and the Bangor Airport did not immediately respond to The Post’s requests for a comment on the incident.
