Who was Thomas Kingston? A look at the life of Lady Gabriella Windsor’s husband who died from gunshot to the head

The royal family has been rocked by the untimely death of Thomas Kingston, the husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor, 56th in line to the British throne

The financier, 45, was found dead Sunday evening at an estate in the Cotswolds, England, with a gunshot wound to the head. The death is “not being treated as suspicious.”

Kingston wed Lady Gabriella — who is the second cousin of King Charles — in 2019 following a six-year courtship.

While Lady Gabriella has been a fixture on the British social scene, Kingston was not a household name, and many Brits knew little about him prior to his death.

However, the Bristol University graduate was incredibly well-connected, and even romanced Princess Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton.

He used to date Pippa Middleton

Long before he was linked to Lady Gabriella, Kingston was in a relationship with Kate Middleton’s younger sister, Pippa.

Pippa, now 40, and Kingston dated for a brief time and parted ways in 2011.

The pair split amicably, with Kingston even attending Pippa’s 2017 wedding to James Matthews.

He worked in finance

Kingston studied economic history at Bristol University and worked as a financial analyst.

At one point, he was the director of Devonport Capital, dabbling in markets and investing management.

He spent time in Iraq

He was once stationed in Baghdad, Iraq, where he operated with the United Kingdom’s Diplomatic Missions Unit of the Foreign Office to secure the release of hostages in the early 2000s.

Kingston was also part of a special team that dealt with hostage negotiations. He also functioned closely with Reverend Canon Andrew White, the head of the only Anglican church in Iraq.

The two collaborated together and aided people to avoid suicide bombings.

“You do wonder how something like this happens. He was so fit and so mentally stable. He wasn’t a depressed individual.” the priest told The Telegraph after Kingston’s passing.

“The thing about Tom was he was never scared,” he said. “Whatever I asked him to do he would do it with a big smile on his face in the middle of a war zone.”

He was a man of deep faith

According to White, Kingston was a “very, very, very” devoted Christian. While at college, he was apparently known as “Christian Tom.”

His wedding was a royal affair

When Kingston and Gabriella married in 2019, many members of the Firm came out to celebrate the happy couple — including the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

The lavish event took place at St George’s Chapel, with guests such as Prince Harry, Prince Edward, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice, the late King Constantine II of Greece and Sarah Ferguson also in attendance.

Gabriella donned a jaw-dropping white frock designed by Luisa Beccaria and her grandmother’s tiara.

The Kent City of London crown was once owned by her paternal grandma, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark.
