Kate Middleton health condition top secret at Kensington Palace: ‘Radio silence’
She’s the princess in the tower.
Kate Middleton, 42, who mysteriously vanished from public for two months after a planned abdominal surgery, is surrounded by “radio silence” in Kensington Palace, insiders told People.
This is just the latest development in the curious lack of transparency about her condition.
Middleton is reportedly on the mend from the medical procedure, and she’s been recovering behind closed doors since being discharged from the hospital on Jan. 29, at her home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
Since then, Prince William, 41, has dodged questions about her recovery as he’s attended many events without his wife, including the BAFTAs. He also hung out with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star and Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney.
Kensington Palace said when it announced Middleton’s surgery that she would not be participating in any royal engagements after her planned, unspecified medical procedure.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery,” read a statement at the time in January. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
After Middleton’s absence from the public prompted rumors, amid the conspiracy theories, in response, Kensington Palace made it clear they would “only be providing significant updates,” her rep told The Post. “That guidance stands.”
The rep added that the mom of three is “doing well.”
To add to all the upheaval and uncertainty around the royal family, King Charles, 75, has taken a step back from his royal duties since he broke the news of his cancer diagnosis on Feb. 5. Queen Camilla, 76, has filled in for him and performed some of his duties.
She was seen attending a memorial service for Greek King Constantine II on Feb. 27, and at a reception for the finalists of the BBC’s 500 Words competition at Buckingham Palace on Feb. 28. William didn’t attend his godfather’s ceremony last-minute for “personal reasons.”
The queen then met with Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska at Clarence House the next day.
William and Princess Anne are now reportedly stepping in as an “exhausted” Camilla jets off to vacation. (She took on 13 more official engagements solo since her husband’s health scare went public.)
“Everybody feels unsettled by uncertainty, and there is too much uncertainty that is surrounding the monarchy right now,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People.
On March 4, Middleton was finally spotted out in public for the first time since her January surgery. In pictures obtained by The Post, the Princess of Wales sat in the passenger seat of an Audi being driven by her mom, Carole Middleton, near Windsor Castle, wearing oversized sunglasses obscuring her face.
To add to the intrigue about the Princess of Wales’ whereabouts, her first public event was seemingly confirmed on March 5, as Britain’s Ministry of Defense noted on Tuesday that she will be appearing at a pre-Trooping the Colour event on June 8.
But, that was quickly walked back.
The UK’s army noted on its website that the future queen was set to examine soldiers from the Foot Guards at the function. The soldiers will line the processional route along the Mall in London for the annual Trooping the Colour parade in the days following the inspection.
However, her office at Kensington Palace said the army hadn’t consulted them about her appearance, and her name was quietly removed from the website.
Prince William finally broke his silence about all the online conspiracy theories surrounding his wife on Wednesday.
His rep told People: “His focus is on his work and not on social media.”
