Peter Prevc delights home crowds in Planica on final weekend before retirement to beat Daniel Huber
Peter Prevc kicked off his final weekend as an elite ski jumper with a stunning victory in the ski flying on his home snow in Planica.
The 31-year-old is calling time on his career at the end of this season, having previously won the overall crystal globe in ski jumping in 2015-16.
He last won a World Cup event in 2020 in Lillehammer, but Prevc rolled back the years in style in Planica.
Sitting second after the first jump, he leapt a mammoth 231 metres second time around to overhaul Daniel Huber and take the win by 3.6 points.
Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang moved from fourth into bronze on the second jump, denying Timi Zajc a second Slovenian on the podium.
The action in Planica continues on Saturday with the team event before the final competition of Prevc’s career on Sunday.
