Two Chicago women badly hurt during boating mishap in ‘Playpen’ of Lake Michigan
Two women were seriously injured during a boating accident in a popular section of Lake Michigan on Sunday, a report said.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in a part of the lake called the “Playpen,” north of Navy Pier, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing the Chicago Fire Department.
The two women were on a raft when the boat crashed into them.
The boat attempted to set anchor but malfunctioned and began to drift, according to NBC Chicago.
The captain attempted to maneuver it, but the boat crashed into a nearby raft.
The hospitalized victims were a 34-year-old Chicago woman and a 28-year-old woman from Washington, according to ABC affiliate WLS.
They were rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where they were listed in serious condition.
