Jill Biden tests negative for COVID, rejoins Joe in Delaware

First lady Jill Biden will rejoin her husband President Biden on vacation in Delaware after testing negative for the coronavirus, her office said Sunday.

“After isolating for five days and receiving negative results from two consecutive COVID-19 tests, the First Lady will depart South Carolina later today for Delaware,” communications director Elizabeth Alexander said in an emailed statement.

The first lady, 71, tested positive for the deadly disease last week as the Biden family prepared to depart from their beach trip in South Carolina — just days after the president himself recovered from a bout of COVID-19.

Her office announced last Tuesday that Biden, who has been double-vaxxed and boosted, registered positive on PCR test after showing “cold-like symptoms” and would remain behind in isolation.

The president, 79, who tested negative, returned to Washington to sign the Inflation Reduction Act at a White House ceremony and then continued on to the family’s home in Delaware.
