Barbie Ferreira announces shocking exit from HBO’s ‘Euphoria’
The Kat’s out the bag.
Actress Barbie Ferreira, who is best known for her role as Kat Hernandez in “Euphoria,” has announced her departure from the hit HBO show.
The 25-year-old, whose character attempts to do just about anything to change her reputation in high school, announced the news on social media Wednesday.
Taking to her Instagram Story, Ferreira said she will not be returning to East Highland High School for Season 3.
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye,” she wrote alongside a “fan art” drawing of her character that fellow co-star Hunter Schafer, who plays Jules in the show, made for her.
“I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez,” she concluded.
The Post has reached out to HBO and Ferreira’s reps for further comment.
The news comes just months after HBO was forced to defend itself over several reports of a “toxic” workplace environment.
Several disgruntled crew members and extras spoke out about their “hellish” experiences filming the horny HBO drama, accusing production of failing to provide them with adequate meals and bathroom breaks.
“It felt toxic to me because I don’t think anybody was really happy to be there,” one anonymous extra told the Daily Beast in March.
Some crew members claimed there were so many complaints made to the labor union SAG-AFTRA that a rep from the organization showed up on the Los Angeles set.
HBO defended the wildly popular series.
“The well-being of cast and crew on our productions is always a top priority,” the network told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “The production was in full compliance with all safety guidelines and guild protocols.”
