William & Harry won’t spend 25th anniversary of Diana’s death together
Prince William and his brother Prince Harry won’t get together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana, according to reports.
The two princes and their families have instead opted to mourn the passing of their late mother separately, The Telegraph reported.
The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex have made it clear that the 20th anniversary of their mother’s passing in 2017 would be the last time they publicly celebrate her passing.
Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997, when William and Prince Harry were just 15 and 12 years old, respectively. None of the princes’ children ever met their grandmother.
Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children will be moving into their new home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor following their summer visit with Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral, according to The Telegraph.
Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle will be at home with their children at their house in Montecito, California.
Harry and Meghan are expected to fly back to the UK in the first week of September to stay at Frogmore Cottage, near the Cambridges, but are not expected to spend time with the royal family, the paper reported.
At a recent private charity dinner, Harry told guests that he planned to mourn in private.
“I want it to be a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way she did it,” he said.
“I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her. Every day, I hope to do her proud.”
The brothers publicly paid respects to their mother in 2017 to mark 20 years since Diana’s death. The two laid flowers at the gates of her former home at Kensington Place and visited the White Garden, which was planted in her memory.
Crowds are still expected to gather at Kensington Palace to lay flowers in Diana’s memory on the anniversary of her death, according to The Telegraph.
