Fans spot ‘House of the Dragon’ CGI fingers mistake in Episode 3

Oops, they did it again.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” had its first major technical error on Sunday night’s episode, according to eagle-eyed fans who never forgot the infamous, anachronistic coffee cup.

Episode 3 featured actor Paddy Considine — who portrays King Viserys I Targaryen in the fantasy drama — wearing a glove with several green fingers, photos posted on Twitter show.

King Viserys supposedly has a mysterious sickness that plagues his bones, and medics in Episode 2 told him it was likely his fingers would need to be amputated if the infection spread.

However, viewers weren’t meant to see the green glove, since he was likely wearing it to aid the computer-generated effects team digitally remove his fingers in post-production editing.

Twitter user Sarah Capps was able to catch the CGI gaffe, posting a screenshot of the scene and writing: “Not the green screen glove on Viserys’s missing fingers 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️#hotd.”

Viewers couldn’t help but point out the mistake, taking to Twitter to air out their fury.

“I can’t believe that this show got a green light. I’m having a hard time believing that any of the people that were involved in creating the ‘Game of Thrones’ were involved in scripting lines and laying out the screenplay. This will probably go down [as] the worst prequel [of all time],” one fan lamented.

One person chimed in: “The CGI team soo focused on the dragons they missed the small details.”

“Seems Thrones is prone to little set mishaps. Thinking of the infamous coffee cup…” another added.

The HBO Max series’ slip-up was reminiscent of the infamous “Game of Thrones” cup mistake, made during a Season 8 episode in 2019.

In a scene from “Game of Thrones,” a to-go cup of coffee was spotted on a table where star Emilia Clarke (who played Daenerys Targaryen) was sitting.

While the errant java cup was digitally erased for later broadcasts, the blunder became just as memorable as “Game of Thrones” itself in pop culture. Fans suggested the blame was thanks to Sophie Turner, but she later called out Clarke for the mishap.

HBO piggy-backed on the fan criticism at the time: “News from Winterfell. The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”

The coffee cup wasn’t the only flub, either. “Game of Thrones” fans also spotted a water bottle left in the finale.
