I was replaced 3 hours after quitting — you are dispensable, too

A woman is encouraging people to prioritize their mental health above their jobs, making an astonishing claim in a TikTok video that everyone is easily replaceable.

Norah Allison — a pilates instructor in Canada — posted a now-viral video shedding light on how replaceable people can be — claiming she was replaced in just three hours after she quit a corporate role.

Allison stitched the video with another content creator, who asked: “What’s something you were not prepared for about the corporate world?”

In the 29-second clip, she says she used to work overtime constantly, giving up weekend and evenings to do her job but says it is not worth it, warning others not to do the same.

“No matter how much work you do you are always dispensable. Always,” Allison says in the clip, which has been viewed more than 4.2 million times.

“I stood on my head for a company and went in early every morning, left late and worked weekends,” she continues. “When I decided to leave, they replace me within three hours.

“You are always dispensable and no job is worth your mental and physical health, ever.”

The post had over 5,000 comments — from people agreeing and sharing their own experiences of it happening to them.

“So true! And it hurts when you realize it. Put yourself and family first, always,” one user wrote.

“When I left a toxic company that didn’t value my work, they had to hire two people to do my job,” another TikToker agreed. “They wouldn’t give me a raise but did that instead.”

The pilates instructor responded saying she was also replaced with two people, whom the company fired not long after hiring them.

“All that matters at the end of the day is your relationships with family and friends,” she told followers.

The clip comes as workers worldwide jump on the “quiet quitting” trend to fight back against their demanding jobs.

Quiet quitting is essentially a rejection of the idea that work has to take over your life and that as an employee you should be going above and beyond in your role.
