Instagram close friends list now being used for one night stands

People are now using Instagram to arrange one-night stands, leaving users shell-shocked.

Jac, known online as @jacquieslife, took to TikTok to shed light on this little-known way of organizing one-off flings.

Jac, who dates women, posted online claiming Instagram’s close friends feature was for your birthday brunch crew, but a friend said that it was actually used for hooking up.

“I couldn’t imagine using close friends to organize a booty call,” Jac told her 50K followers.

“But then that night I went to a concert and my friend was like ‘we have to take a selfie for close friends.’”

Jac said she was offended she wasn’t being placed on the public story but then started to see messages roll in from men on her friend’s Instagram about meeting up after the show.

She said she had never seen anything like it before — the belief that being on the close friends list is a subtle move letting people know “they’re in.”

The second time it happened, Jac’s friend posted a photo of Jac and another friend building furniture.

“I thought this wasn’t going to be like the last one, my friend wasn’t even in it, but immediately someone messages her: ‘wanna f’,” Jac said.

Many social media users stitched the clip, claiming similar experiences, with one bisexual woman revealing what had happened to her.

The woman said when she was looking for something casual after meeting a man off Bumble, he told her he loved her.

She decided to create space between them and, while out one night, she discovered she was on his close friends list and decided to have a look.

“I thought, how lovely, he still wants to be friends. I click it – it’s him naked,” the woman said.

“This was a way for him to send me nudes non-consensually so I text him and said ‘what the f–k you know I’m not interested.’”

“He replied saying he was very aware of who was on his close friends list.”

A man, who identifies as gay, said the close friends lists he was added to was a combination of thirst traps and mental breakdowns – joking that sometimes both things could be happening at once.

Not everyone agreed with the revelation, with some claiming that close friends is strictly for your pals and to post memes.

One said: “I choose my close friends based off of vibes. Talked to you once? Close friends. Bestie? Close friends.”

Another added: “Bestie created her own hook up app. Power to the queen.”

One commented: “My close friends is all just obscure memes & me being embarrassing.”

Another commented: “Being bi means it’s both. you gotta guess which one you are.”
