Original ‘Blue’s Clues’ host Steve Burns returns in series’ first film
The world felt blue without him.
Original “Blue’s Clues” host Steve Burns, 48, delighted fans on Monday when he appeared in a trailer for “Blue’s Big City Adventure,” the popular Nickelodeon tv show’s first film adaptation.
Burns — who hosted the show from 1996 to 2002 — will star in the flick alongside his successors Donovan Patton, 44, aka Steve’s younger brother “Joe,” and current host, Josh Dela Cruz, 33, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The musical-comedy follows Blue and Josh as they take a trip to New York City after Josh books a Broadway audition.
Josh is bummed to discover he left his handy-dandy notebook at home so his friends Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper join him in the Big Apple to help him find it.
That’s where they encounter Steve, who has swapped out his iconic striped green polo for a green tie.
Burns returned briefly to the cast of “Blue’s Clues” for the show’s 25th anniversary in 2021, during which he addressed his abrupt departure from the Nickelodeon show.
The host said that leaving the show allowed him to challenge himself and go to college.
He expressed gratitude for his fans and told them he was proud of them for accomplishing so much.
“Look at all you have done and all you have accomplished in all that time. And it’s just … it’s just so amazing, right,” the former host said.
“I mean, we started out with clues, and now it’s what? Student loans, and jobs, and families, and some of that has been kind of hard, you know? I know you know. I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years, I never forgot you. Ever.”
“And I’m super glad we’re still friends,” he added.
“Blue’s Big City Adventure will be available to stream on Paramount+ on November 18, 2022. The star-studded cast boasts Broadway greats like Phillipa Soo, Ali Stroker, and Steven Pasquale as well as BD Wong, and Alex Winter.
