Harvey Weinstein appears haggard and rundown in LA court

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein looked haggard and rundown at a court appearance in Los Angeles Tuesday amid reports of his declining health while in prison.

The convicted sex abuser was photographed with unkempt hair, a five o’clock shadow and bags under his eyes in a courtroom at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, where he is set to go to trial next week on charges he sexually assaulted five women in LA between 2004 and 2013.

Weinstein’s shocking court appearance comes weeks after he said his teeth are rotting out of his mouth and begged a judge to stop a prison dentist from pulling them. The former movie producer is being jailed at LA’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility while he awaits trial scheduled for Oct. 10.

“I’m in pain every day. I have cavities and I can’t eat because I’m missing teeth,” he said at the time, pleading to get permission to visit a private dentist.

The 70-year-old’s health has been declining since he was locked up and handed a 23-year prison sentence in March 2020.

Weinstein began using a walker that same year after undergoing spinal surgery and recent reports suggest his health has deteriorated. He has lost 75 pounds since the allegations broke, according to the New Yorker.

In February 2020, a Manhattan jury found Weinstein guilty of forcibly performing oral sex on former “Project Runway” production assistant Miriam “Mimi” Haleyi in 2006 and of raping hairstylist Jessica Mann in 2013.

However, in August, New York’s highest court agreed to hear Weinstein’s appeal of his conviction, in which he plans to argue he received an unfair trial.

He was acquitted on two charges of predatory sexual assault related to allegations he raped actress Annabella Sciorra in the mid-1990s.
