Texas man arrested after scaring the ‘bejeebies’ out of people at Walmart

A Texas man is in legal trouble after he scared the “bejeebies”out of Walmart customers during an aggressively outlandish shopping trip, according to police.

Texarkana police accused Jerry Toney of rushing up to people in the mega store’s parking lot with a hatchet attached to the front of his pants as he screamed things “that made absolutely no sense.”

“Obviously his very bizarre behavior was scaring the bejeebies out of the people he was running up on,” the police department said Friday in a Facebook post about the Oct. 7 incident.

Authorities noted he never actually took the hatchet out of his pants to directly threaten anyone during his alleged antics.

Two police officers located the 25-year-old suspect as he was jumping back into a black Dodge pickup that was actually reported stolen in a Texas county about 100 miles away, police said.

He removed the hatchet and a baton from his pants before he was taken into custody, authorities said. He claimed he needed both objects for protection, police alleged.

It’s the second instance where police responded to a report of a man acting erratically in the area — the first time at a nearby movie theater, but the person left before cops arrived, according to authorities.

Police said Toney matches the description of the person who was also reported at the movie theater.

Toney, who is a local, was booked on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle and hauled to Bi-State jail on $50,000 bail where he remained as of Friday.
