Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis murdered by own son to be remembered by bandmates in tribute gig

Canadian rock guitarist Gord Lewis is set to be remembered by his close friends and former bandmates following his death aged 65 in August.

The co-founding member of punk rock band Teenage Head was found dead in his Hamilton, Ontario home after he was allegedly murdered by his own son, who was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder

Following the horrific news, the late musician’s fellow rockers are joining forces to honor Lewis on Nov. 5 at FirstOntario Concert Hall in Lewis’s hometown.

“Teenage Head decided to celebrate Gord’s life with the Hamilton community and anybody who likes music,” the rocker’s former bandmate Dave Rave told CHCH.

Rave, whose decades-long friendship with the late guitarist spanned over five decades, said Lewis always “wanted to take music from Hamilton and bring it to the world.”

“Teenage Head is one of the most influential bands, I think, that Canada had and has,” Rave added.

Teenage Head was founded in 1975.

The night will see the surviving members of the band come together to perform their greatest hits.

Headstones guitarist Trent Carr will fill in for Lewis’s spot on the night.

“We’re going to do a set and there’s also going to be special guests who are going to pay tribute to the band and the music,” Rave said.

Tickets are on sale and all proceeds will be donated to the Good Shepherd homeless shelter in Hamilton.

Gord’s death was confirmed by the band in August, who shared a touching post on Instagram as his bandmates paid tribute.

“We are heartbroken and still trying to process the loss of our friend, bandmate and brother Gord Lewis,” the band’s surviving members Steve Marshall, drummer Gene Champagne, and Dave Desroches wrote.

“Our hearts are with his family and all that knew and loved him. Gord was a force and an inspiration to many. You were taken from us far too soon.”

Lewis co-founded the punk rock band Teenage Head in 1975 alongside founding vocalist and drummer Frankie Venom and singer Dave Desroches, and the band went on to perform all over the country before finding global fame.
