A history of Nicki Minaj’s feuds

Queens girl Nicki Minaj doesn’t hold back — in her raps or in real life.

The “Super Freaky Girl” co-host of tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards most recently got into it with Kevin Federline, calling the former backup dancer a “clown” during a rant-laced Amp livestream, after Federline chose to publicly question ex-wife Britney Spears’ parenting abilities, even posting videos of the recently-remarried Spears scolding their sons.

“Only cowards use the media against a person they once loved,” the 39-year-old MC insisted.

Minaj’s latest celeb showdown is certainly not her first. Here are five other feuds that brought out the battle in this rapper.

Nicki vs. Taylor

Despite their beef, Nicki MInaj and Taylor Swift performed together at the 2015 VMAs.

After Minaj’s “Anaconda” failed to score a nomination for video of the year at the 2015 VMAs, the rapper seemed to take aim at Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” clip getting a nod for the top trophy while featuring models Lily Aldridge, Karlie Klaus, Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt. “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” she tweeted. The “Shake It Off” singer responded swiftly: “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

Nicki vs. Miley

The beef between the rapper and Miley Cyrus started when the “Wrecking Ball” singer called Minaj “not too kind” during a 2015 interview with the New York Times. Shortly after that, Minaj clapped back while accepting the award for best hip-hop video at the VMAs being hosted by — you guessed it — Cyrus: “And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” Then Cyrus replied: “Nicki, congratu-f – – king-lations.”

Nicki vs. Cardi

During New York Fashion Week in 2018, Minaj and Cardi B got into an infamous couture catfight that included hair-pulling and shoe-throwing instead of catwalking. The rappers were walking the red carpet at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons bash when poses came to blows. Cardi B ended up hurling her red shoe at Nicki and then was escorted out of the Plaza with a knot on her forehead from getting hit herself. The “Up” rapper later took to Instagram to address the incident: “I’ve worked to [sic] hard and come too far to let anybody f – – k with my success! Bitches talk all that s – – t in they raps but in real life they
p – – sy.”

Nicki vs. Mariah

As judges on Season 12 of “American Idol,” Minaj and Mariah Carey were notorious for throwing shade — at each other. But apparently things got even nastier between the divas behind the scenes. A video was leaked from the Charlotte, North Carolina, auditions in which Minaj could be heard ranting about Carey: “I’m not f – – kin’ putting up with her
f – -king highness over there.” Barbara Walters got in the middle of the fight, dishing about her conversation with Carey on “The View”: “[Mariah] said that what you heard was troublesome, but that’s not what worries her,” she told the audience. “When Nicki walked off the set, people heard her say if she had a gun she would ‘shoot that bitch.’ ”

Nicki vs. Iggy

Shots were first fired between Minaj and Iggy Azalea in 2010, when the then-unknown “Fancy” rapper tweeted “lmao at nikki saying she did the bet awards live. errrrr. if you say so girl.” But then at the 2014 BET Awards, Minaj — without naming names — seemed to address rumors that Azalea employed ghostwriters to pen her lyrics. “When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” she said during her acceptance speech for best female hip-hop artist. “I hope and pray that BET continues to honor authenticity.”
