‘A lot of people feel a bit of betrayal’ – Jon Rahm demands answers after shock merger of PGA Tour and LIV Golf
World No. 2 Jon Rahm has slammed the surprise merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf as a “betrayal from management” and says players feel they haven’t been given a proper explanation.
There was pending litigation between the tours after some of the top players in golf left the PGA Tour to join the breakaway tour backed by Saudi Arabia’s public investment fund.

A lack of clarity over what future will look like has caused a great deal of uncertainty, according to Masters champion Rahm.
“I think it gets to a point where you want to have faith in management, and I want to have faith that this is the best thing for all of us, but it’s clear that that’s not the consensus,” Rahm said.
“The general feeling is that a lot of people feel a bit of betrayal from management.”
The Spaniard added: “We’re certainly in a spot in time where there’s a big question mark – we don’t have any of the answers we’d like”.
Rahm was one of the most high-profile players to resist a lucrative offer from LIV, turning down a reported £159 million.
And he said news of the merger, which also includes the European DP World Tour, created chaos in his personal life.
“I thought my phone was going to catch on fire at one point,” Rahm said.
“At one point I told [my wife] Kelley I’m going to throw my phone in the drawer and not look at it for four hours because I can’t deal with this.”
Rahm will bid for glory at the US Open this week, with the third Major of the season set to start on Thursday in Los Angeles.
