Adam Driver attached to play young Robert De Niro in ‘Heat 2’

Actor Adam Driver could be heating up the big screen sometime soon.

The 39-year-old is in advanced talks to star in “Heat 2” — the sequel to Michael Mann’s 1995 film “Heat.”

Warner Bros. is currently in negotiations to acquire the rights to Mann’s book of the same name for the sequel, Deadline reported yesterday.

For the upcoming second installment, the filmmaker would be both writing the script, as well directing the feature.

The “Miami Vice” director is also still in negotiations to finalize a deal for his movie.

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Val Kilmer famously starred in the parent flick with Mann producing, writing and directing.

“House of Gucci” star Driver would appear in the new movie as a young Neil McCauley, played by Robert De Niro in the original “Heat.” Driver’s name is the only name attached to “Heat 2” at this time, though there has been some chatter about Pacino returning to the sequel and Ana de Armas joining to play Driver’s love interest, Deadline reported.

The original “Heat” chronicled the issues between an LAPD officer Lt. Vincent Hanna (Pacino) and his encounter with a professional thief (De Niro).

Driver will also be seen in Mann’s next project, “Ferrari.”

The book version of “Heat 2” was released in August and took the top of the New York Times Best Seller list.

Micheal Mann wrote “Heat 2” with co-author Meg Gardiner. The narrative acts as a prequel to the previous story as well as a sequel and takes place between 1988 and 2000.

Mann and Driver are already teaming up for the biographical film “Ferrari,” which is based on the life of Italian car mogul Enzo Ferrari.

The “Marriage Story” alum is starring as the titular character and the movie will be released later this year.

The plot will follow Ferrari in the summer of 1957 as he prepares for the Mille Miglia race.

Patrick Dempsey, Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley and Sarah Gadon are also starring in the flick.

Christian Bale was first announced to play Ferrari in 2015; however, he dropped out of the project shortly after.

The biopic has been a longtime passion project for Mann, who’s worked on it since the early 2000s. Filmmaker Sydney Pollack was even once involved before his passing in 2008.

The Post reached out to Driver’s and Mann’s reps for comment.
