Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shouted down during chaotic NYC town hall
A Queens town hall hosted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Friday descended into chaos, with some of her constituents shouting her down while others showed their support.
“American citizens before migrants,” a man holding small American flags yelled as he approached the congresswoman, according to footage obtained by Fox News.
“Where are you on the migrant issue? You’re a piece of s–t,” he continued shouting.
The 33-year-old congresswoman laughed off the incident, responding, “OK,” as the man was escorted out. But it appeared to be just the first of many interruptions to come.
The protesters took issue with Ocasio-Cortez’s support for US funding for Ukraine in its fight against invading Russian forces, her positions on the border crisis and her support for raising the debt ceiling.
“Stop funding this war, there’s a lot of communities that need help and need that money,” another woman shouted as she was ushered out of the auditorium in Corona.
“America First. Vetted legal migrants only,” “Stop funding Ukraine,” “AOC: An Obvious Criminal,” and “AOC: Stop pushing drag queen story hour,” were among the signs several of her constituents brought to the town hall and held up throughout the event.
At one point, the member of the far-left “Squad” made it be known that she believes the Biden administration should abolish the debt limit, which drew both boos and cheers from the crowd.
“$100 billion for Ukraine that you voted for!” an irate man shouted at Ocasio-Cortez after the debt ceiling remark.
“It is not your turn! How about you wait your turn,” an enraged individual shouted at the man upset about Ukraine funding.
“Freedom of speech,” someone else shouted back.
Ocasio-Cortez’s town halls are known to draw somewhat hostile crowds, with hecklers and frequent interruptions.
Last year, protesters with hand drums, chanting, “AOC has got to go,” crashed one of her town halls and kept her from addressing her constituents for several minutes.
The congresswoman danced along to the beat as the hecklers chanted for her to be voted out of office.
