Amber Heard’s sister Whitney calls MTV ‘desperate’ for Johnny Depp’s VMAs cameo
That’s one step for Johnny Depp, and one angry sister for MTV.
Amber Heard’s sister, Whitney, 34, called the network out on her Instagram Story after Sunday’s VMAs, where Depp made his first on-camera appearance since this summer’s defamation trial.
“@MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters,” Whitney wrote, sticking up for her sister.
She also used the hashtags #DVMAS — seemingly referencing domestic violence — and #ISTANDWITHAMBERHEARD.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star had a reoccurring role as a digitally superimposed astronaut floating above the VMAs stage Sunday. He made three blink-and-you-missed-it comments, mostly about “needing the work” after the Heard defamation trial.
“I just want you guys to know that I’m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, any old thing you need,” he said in his third and final appearance.
Twitter users weren’t overly impressed with his presence either.
“I can’t stop laughing, this is what his fans called “johnny depp’s big comeback,” one user wrote.
“Man f— mtv for giving Johnny depp a platform,” Buzzfeed reporter Paige Skinner stated.
Amber has not posted anything about Depp’s appearance. Her last Instagram post was a letter to fans after she lost the legal battle with Depp on June 1.
However, her lawyers have since filed a motion to appeal the jury verdict, in which Heard is ordered to pay her estranged husband $10 million. Heard also fired her legal team from the highly publicized case — a move experts said could be advantageous for the “Aquaman” actress.
She is reportedly “broke” from the legal fees and lavish spending and put her $8 million California desert home on the market in August.
