‘And Just Like That’ Season 2 brings back sex, nudity
They’re bringing the “sex” part back to “Sex and the City.”
The two-part season premiere of “And Just Like That” Season 2 is now streaming on Max.
And for anyone who thought that Season 1 of the “Sex and the City” spinoff show was too tame, Season 2 starts with a copious amount of hanky-panky from everyone.
Immediately, it has a montage of all the ladies in the bedroom with their various lovers. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is with Franklyn (Ivan Hernandez), the podcast producer that she shared a smooch with at the end of Season 1. He’s lounging in her bed while she’s wearing top-of-the-line sleepwear.
Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is getting it on in the hot tub with Che (Sara Ramirez), her queer nonbinary lover who audiences hated in Season 1. Charlotte (Kristin Davis) shares a cuddle with her husband, Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler) while wearing a slinky slip.
Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) and Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) – all new characters who were introduced to the “SATC” world in Season 1 of “And Just Like That” – also make appearances, sharing romps with their lovers, too.
Season 1 of the show followed Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte through life in their 50s, which included a major life event for Carrie, when Mr. Big (Chris Noth) died.
Notably, the fourth member of the group, sassy Samantha (Kim Cattrall) was absent, largely due to her rumored feud with her cast members. Cattrall will be back for a cameo this season, although she wasn’t in the first two episodes.
Later in the episode, Miranda tries on a strap-on, and there’s copious discussion of pegging.
While Miranda is trying to figure out how to put it on (“Is this a strap-on or a cat toy?” she says, while trying to navigate all of the leather straps), Che takes a call from Carrie, who wants advice about her relationship with Franklyn.
“I’m about to take your and my relationship to a very personal place,” Carrie warns Che.
“I just told you Miranda is strapping on a dick. We’re there,” Che replies.
No pegging is shown onscreen, as Miranda and Che get distracted. But they spend a lot of time talking about it, as Miranda wonders if wearing a strap-on is something that she is “philosophically or spiritually” interested in, and Che replies, “Oh, please. You scream ‘give me a d – – k.’”
Carrie also has a discussion with her friends about whether or not Franklyn is a “booty call.”
So, whether or not you loved or hated Season 1 of “And Just Like That,” Season 2 has started with a bang.
It’s still less raunchy than its parent show – especially sans Samantha. But, it’s stepping it up.
New episodes are out weekly on Thursdays on Max.
