Andy Cohen in contract to buy downtown NYC penthouse

Andy Cohen, the TV host/producer of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” has bought a prewar duplex penthouse in Manhattan’s West Village, Gimme can exclusively report.

The penthouse, at 299 W. 12th St., was last asking $18.3 million, as Gimme Shelter first reported.

The amount Cohen will pay for the spread isn’t yet clear — but it was among the 24 contracts signed last week for city homes $4 million and above, according to Monday’s Olshan Luxury Market Report.

The 17-story building is the tallest in the West Village north of Canal Street — with unparalleled views — and sits on the north end of Abingdon Square Park.

This week, Cohen blasted the government’s “abysmal” response to the monkeypox virus and warned his “gay brothers” to stay safe while asking the public to not stigmatize the homosexual community amidst the outbreak.

Cohen currently lives in a nearby duplex at 2 Horatio.

Both buildings — Cohen’s current duplex and the penthouse he is in contract to buy — were developed by the famed Bing & Bing brothers.

“Andy looked at everything in the area before choosing the penthouse,” a source said. “He loves the neighborhood. But the penthouse needs a lot of work.”

Cohen, who is also known for entertaining his close, and famous, friends like Sarah Jessica Parker and CNN’s Anderson Cooper, is up for the challenge, we hear. 

The 3,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, four-bath penthouse comes with original details like beamed ceilings — and 2,000 square feet of outdoor space over two floors, including a solarium, a wrap terrace and stunning views of the Village.

The ceilings on the top floor rise to 14 feet, while they are 10 feet high on the lower floor. The chef’s kitchen and living room have French doors that open to the terrace. 

The sellers are lawyers and Democratic Party organizers Willard Taylor and Virginia Davies.

The building was designed by Emery Roth.  

The listing broker, Frans Preidel of Brown Harris Stevens, declined comment.
