Andy Cohen wants Meghan Markle on ‘Real Housewives’
Andy Cohen knows the archetype he likes most for the “Real Housewives” franchise.
The 55-year-old “Watch What Happens Live” host is keen on recruiting a certain royal for the hit Bravo reality series.
During a panel discussion at BravoCon 2023, Cohen did not mince his words when asked who’d he’d love to see casted on an all-new “Real Housewives” spinoff.
“If we can get Meghan Markle,” he declared. “That would be interesting.”
Markle, 42, and her hubby Prince Harry, 39 have lived in a nine-bedroom, $14 million mansion in Montecito, California since 2020 after being exiled from the royal family earlier that year.
Cohen is clearly a fan of the Duchess of Sussex. Not only was he a guest on her Spotify podcast “Archetypes,” but he also came to her defense when rumors swirled that Markle didn’t actually interview her guests herself and instead only came in later to record voiceovers to make it appear as if she was there.
Cohen called the story “insane.”
“Of course, I [spoke with Meghan], And she definitely [interviewed me]. That’s an insane rumor,” the Bravo executive told Us Weekly. “Her podcast is conversations with people. How would she not have, of course she did.”
Cohen also said Markle was “quite well-researched,” “well-informed,” and “thoughtful.”
In addition to Cohen, Markle interviewed Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, Issa Rae, Mindy Kaling, Serena Williams, Constance Wu and a plethora of other luminaries during the show’s 12 episodes before the $20 million deal with Spotify fell through, causing the podcast not to be renewed for Season 2.
During their conversation on “Archetypes” it was also revealed that Markle almost appeared on another Bravo show, “Watch What Happens Live,” but the casting producers ultimately passed on the former “Suits” star. It’s a move Cohen calls the “biggest blunder in the 13 years of the show.”
The former actress has allegedly been eyeing a return to Hollywood in recent months, so it would be no surprise if she actually took Cohen up on his offer and possible spawned a “Real Housewives of Montecito” spin-off.
In the United States, there are already 11 Housewives franchises, including New York, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, Orange County, Potomac, Miami and Salt Lake City.
