Andy Murray eases past Hyeon Chung in grass court opener at Surbiton to begin Wimbledon preparations

Andy Murray began the grass court season in strong fashion as he eased to a 6-3 6-2 win over Hyeon Chung in the Surbiton Trophy first round.

It was pretty much plain-sailing for Murray, who showed impressive quality on his serve to win the match in only one hour and 12 minutes.

The former world No. 1 looked at home on the grass as he put a challenging clay swing behind him.

Murray will now face a qualifier in the second round.

As for Chung, the 27-year-old has faced an injury-plagued past couple of years after struggling in his recovery from a back injury.

Murray won the first set with relative ease, prevailing 6-3 after only 36 minute, and held all of seven of his service games during the match.

The Brit, currently ranked No. 43 in the world, broke Chung in the fourth game at the second opportunity and wrapped up the ninth game to love.

Murray won a mammoth first game of the second set after breaking Chung at the fourth attempt with a forehand strike following a lengthy rally.

The Scot was starting to find the range with his serve and two aces saw him move 2-0 ahead in the first of four consecutive service games that were held.

The former world No. 1 broke Chung again after the South Korean failed to find the target with a cross-court winner, and left Murray serving for the match.

He did so in some style too, winning the ninth game to love and convincingly booking his place in round two.

It was as convincing as Murray could have hoped for after ending the match with eight aces and winning all of service games.
