Anna Nicole Smith’s father allegedly tried raping her at 24
Anna Nicole Smith’s lifelong dream of being daddy’s little girl was shattered when her father allegedly attempted to rape her at age 24 — a claim her paternal brother says “I wouldn’t put it past [our dad].”
The shocking charge against the late superstar’s father, Donald Hogan, was leveled by her secret girlfriend, Melissa “Missy” Byrum, in the new Netflix documentary “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” out Tuesday.
“She told me that her father had tried to have sex with her,” a tearful Byrum reveals in the doc. “I was really sad to see that. She was so so disappointed.”
The alleged assault occurred in 1993, after Smith — then an ex-stripper and a single mother to son Daniel — was granted the coveted title of Playboy’s Playmate of the Year, for which Hugh Hefner gifted her a Jaguar convertible.
Days prior to receiving the honors, the curvaceous model had hired a private detective to find Hogan, whom she’d never met.
After their inaugural phone call, she flew her father and his son Donnie, then 16, to California to attend the awards ceremony, hosted inside Hef’s swank Playboy Mansion.
Smith, who was raised in Mexia, Texas, by her “tyrant” of a mother, Virgie, had grown up completely estranged from Hogan, who lived approximately 100 miles away in Oakhurst.
As a child, she blamed Virgie for barring her from having a relationship with her father.
However, in the doc, Donnie says the estrangement was in the beauty icon’s best interest.
“My father is not the type of guy you want to be alone with. You’re not going to feel safe,” says Donnie of Hogan, who died in September 2009. “He’s a monster.”
Smith’s brother continued delving into their dad’s misdeeds, saying, “He told me a story about how he raped his wife’s sister.”
“He chased her down by a tree when his wife wasn’t around. She was a child,” says Donnie. “He’s very scary. I was always afraid of him.”
In the film, Donnie claims to have informed Smith of Hogan’s heinous crimes.
However, while on camera, he appears stunned to learn of Byrum’s allegation that their father attempted to rape Smith.
“My dad? Assaulted her? That would be like him. But is it true? It couldn’t be,” he questions. “I was there every step of the way, but I wouldn’t put it past him. I guess I wasn’t there all the time.
“It could be true,” he continues.
