Anthony Anderson rushed to emergency room after ‘movie set fight gone wrong’
Anthony Anderson spent the night in the emergency room.
Anderson, 53, updated his Instagram on Friday with a video of himself lying in a hospital bed, smiling and giving a peace sign.
In his caption, he elaborated on what happened.
“I spent the night in the emergency room. Movie set fight gone wrong,” he revealed.
“Me against two goons and a chair! Guess who didn’t win! Who needs a stuntman? Me that’s who! I’m not as young as I used to be! CT scan and X-rays showed nothing fractured or broken in my back just a deep contusion. That chair will never be the same though! Bloodied and bowed but never broken!”
He ended his post with hashtags about “Set life” and “movie fights.”
The “Black-ish” star didn’t share what movie he was in the midst of filming, but his location tag was “Cape Town, South Africa,” which is where his upcoming movie “G20” was scheduled to film.
The movie stars Viola Davis, Anthony Starr (“The Boys”) and Clark Gregg (“The Avengers”), and it’s an action thriller about a terrorist strike at the annual G20 summit. Davis will play the fictional US President, Taylor Sutton.
Anderson’s role in the movie has not been specified.
Anderson most recently hosted a Euro-trip travel show with his mom for “E!” called “Trippin’ with Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris,” about which he told The Post, “It started out as a thank you to my mother for all the sacrifices that she made to get me to where I am.”
“It’s a way of just celebrating her. Because of my work schedule and my mom’s bingo habit, we don’t get to spend much time together at home,” he continued. “So, the six-week vacation was a time for us to go out and bond and see the world together.”
He also co-hosts the A&E series “Kings of BBQ” with Cedric the Entertainer, and he hosted the 2024 Emmys with a crowd-pleasing opening that paid tribute to older shows such as “The Facts of Life” and “Miami Vice.”
He didn’t take many digs at the crowd, except for a light joke about Kevin Costner (“Fun fact, Kevin Costner is from Compton. I wonder if he was a Crip or a Blood … who knows. Yellowstone!” he said).
In a follow-up post after his hospital update, Anderson shared a photo of a chair.
In his caption, he wrote, “This is the chair that whooped my ass last night! Something about it is menacing! It sucker punched me in the kidneys and back with no mercy! When I got on set today it was grinning at me! Little does he know I got something for that ass! He gone learn today!”
