Anya Taylor-Joy accused of promoting ‘starvation’ with topless corset photo

Anya Taylor-Joy is sparking “fury” among critics.

On Sunday, the star of the upcoming “Mad Max: Fury Road” spinoff movie, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” 27, posted a photo of herself in a waist- cinching corset on her Instagram.

The black and white image showed Taylor-Joy topless wearing the corset, which made her waist look tiny. In recent years, the old-fashioned undergarments have come back in style.

“Can we not normalize starvation?” one outraged fan commented on the photo.

Another commenter wrote, “Watch out Anya, people will use this as starvation inspo.”

“Do you realize how corsets are hurtful for women’s health and should not be promoted?” another person wrote.

The Post reached out to Taylor-Joy for comment.

“Are your ribs okay? Could you breathe? Like, honestly wondering!” another fan wrote.

“Rough. Expected better from you tbh. Thinness isn’t chic,” another person criticized her.

“That is not a healthy look for women at all” another fan said, while another person slammed her, “Nothing to be proud of & sets a poor example for young girls.”

Taylor-Joy, who married musician Malcolm McRae, 29, in September 2023, wore the garment under her gown to the NYC premiere of the sci-fi epic “Dune: Part Two,” which is now in theaters, co-starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.

Taylor-Joy has had a fast rise to fame, appearing in edgy, trendy projects such as “The Northman,” “Last Night in Soho,” “The Menu” and the Netflix hit miniseries, “The Queen’s Gambit.”

Talking to The Post in 2020 about “The Queen’s Gambit,” Taylor-Joy said, “I could see a lot of myself in [my character] Beth. I thought she’s an inherently lonely person. And I really felt that, especially when I was very little. Her way of coping with it is that she found chess. I found acting.”

Regarding her career trajectory, she also said, “I wish that I was somebody who had the foresight to go, ‘This is what I want to do now,’ or ‘I want to do something in this time period,’ but I’ve always picked jobs based on a feeling and on whether I think I’m the right person to tell that person’s story.”

Next up, Taylor-Joy’s role in “Furiosa” will find her co-starring with Chris Hemsworth and playing a younger version of Charlize Theron’s character from the series’ previous installment, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film is scheduled to premiere May 24.

“I am very excited, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the people that originated this world,” Taylor-Joy told The Post. “I was swept up in the magic of ‘Mad Max’ along with everyone else, and I just have the deepest gratitude and I’m so humbled that I’m being allowed to join this adventure.”

Not every fan slammed her corset photo, however. A few fans took to her social media to defend her.

“She’s not promoting anything dude, let a woman be free,” one fan defended the actress in the comments. “If she likes it, good, if you don’t, it’s perfectly fine. You have the right not to wear it, just as she has the right to wear anything she likes. We don’t have to be all dramatic about it…”

Another fan remarked, “What’s up with y’all in the comments? Go touch some grass. Her body is perfectly fine, she’s always been on the slimmer side, and the first pic is just a corset she wore during an event. Ffs.”
