Arsenal agree £105m fee to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice after completing Kai Havertz deal – reports

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £105m fee with West Ham to sign Declan Rice.

The Gunners had been in a battle with Manchester City to sign the West Ham captain, before the Premier League champions pulled out.

That left Arsenal with a clear path and they look to have now secured the move.

According to the Athletic, Arsenal returned on Tuesday evening with an initial fee of £100m and an extra £5m in add-ons.

The two clubs are now trying to resolve payment terms.

If the move goes through it will be a Premier League record fee for a British player, topping the £100m that Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish two years ago.

Arsenal have already secured the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth £65m.

Rice made 245 appearances for West Ham and led the team to silverware in his last game in the Europa Conference League final.

But with his contract expiring next summer, West Ham have opted to cash in.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the club’s pursuit of Rice and Havertz earlier this month.

“Talent comes at a price, and at Arsenal we are always interested in youngsters with experience,” he told Marca.

“I repeat, I’m not talking about players from other clubs, but in the case of Kai he has already shown a lot, including [winning] a Champions League. He is a talented player, versatile and only 24 years old.”

Arsenal finished second in the Premier League last season behind Manchester City.

They were leading for much of the season until being overhauled by Pep Guardiola’s side.
