Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham remain keen on transfer move for Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus – Paper Round

Arsenal and Chelsea battle for Kudus

The Mail suggests that West Ham are struggling to sign Mohammed Kudus amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The paper writes: “West Ham have reportedly had a bid rejected as they attempt to sign Ajax winger Mohammed Kudus.

“The club’s technical director Tim Steidten flew to Amsterdam on Thursday in a bid to secure a deal for the Ghana international.

“Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked to a move for Kudus this summer, with Brighton having agreed in principle to sign him for £35 million earlier this month before the deal stalled.

“Kudus’ current contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena is due to expire in 2025, and the player rejected the offer of a one-year extension by the club in April.”

United and Liverpool retain Gravenberch interest

The Mirror believes that Manchester United and Liverpool remain keen on signing Ryan Gravenbetch from Bayern Munich.

The outlet reports: “Ryan Gravenberch was tipped for big things when he was the new, hot property off of the Ajax production line.

“A number of the continent’s biggest clubs were thought to be keen on a move for the promising Dutch midfielder, but it was Bayern Munich who won the race for his signature. Just over a year on from his move to the Bundesliga behemoths, Gravenberch may be regretting that decision as speculation regarding his club future continues to linger.

“Liverpool are once again pursuing the highly rated midfield maestro, much like they did when Gravenberch made clear he’d be leaving Ajax last year. Ex-Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo has already seen his Anfield switch confirmed, but it is highly likely that Jurgen Klopp aims to bring in another midfield before the window closes on September 1.

“Having fallen down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena, Gravenberch has been forced to explore the idea of plying his trade elsewhere and is believed to favour a move to Manchester United over Liverpool if he were to join a Premier League side.”

Chelsea looking for new goalkeeper

After the departures of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, Mauricio Pochettino has said that Chelsea may bring in a new goalkeeper.

“Mauricio Pochettino has warned Chelsea’s new arrivals that their extraordinarily long contracts are no guarantees of game-time and said he will not accept any players choosing to coast now that their long-term futures are secured,” the Telegraph begins.

“Chelsea remain in the market for another new goalkeeper after Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Real Madrid on loan. New signing Robert Sanchez, who arrived from Brighton this summer for £25 million, played against Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

“Asked whether another goalkeeper will be signed, Pochettino said: ‘That is a good question because we are thinking of that. We are thinking and exploring all of the situations and possibilities on the market. The club is assessing all the options.’”

Forest set to miss out on Nascimento

The Sun reports that Botafogo forward Matheus Nascimento is not keen on joining the side.

“Brazilian striker Matheus Nascimento, 19, plans to stay with Botafogo instead of moving to Nottingham Forest,” it states.

“The Reds will pay £15 million but the teen wants to win the title back home.

“Crystal Palace have also been linked with Nascimento. But Forest moved ahead of the Eagles in the race for his signature.

“Steve Cooper’s side had considered signing Nascimento now and loaning him straight out. The Brazilian could have joined Olympiacos, who are also owned by Forest chief Evangelos Marinakis.”
